About Me - FAQs

How do I become a Thespian?
Students who are interested in becoming a Thespian must apply for membership by filling out a form and talking to Mrs. Laney.  Once a student participates in at least one show they can begin accumulating points. After accumulating 10 Lindbergh High School theatre work points (2 out of the 5 categories: acting, production, business, writing, and directing) and paying a one-time, non-refundable pledge fee of $25. (students may pay the fee prior to accumulating the 10 points)

What do Thespians do?
The mission of Troupe 2533 of the International Thespian Society is to promote growth and interest in the Lindbergh High School theatre program and to promote the tenets of the International Thespian Society. Thespians are involved in all aspects of the Lindbergh High School Theatre community including the fall play, winter musical, spring play, special events, and community service projects. Members of Troupe 2533 are expected to maintain an active participation in the LHS theatre program annually. Potential Members must also illustrate the six LHS pillars of character through their attitudes and behaviors.

How do I stay a Thespian?
Membership as a Thespian is for life. However, there is something called Thespian Members in Good Standing. To have that title you must:
participate in at least one show a year, participate in at least one community service event a year,  and attend at least five Thespian meetings a year.  A member in good standing's vote counts for 6X that of a regular Thespian.

How do I audition for an after school production?
Attend the informational meeting with Mrs. Laney the week before the audition. Collect the audition packet for the production. Read and sign the last page of the audition packet with your parent and turn in at check in on the day of the audition.

What are call backs?
After the initial audition there are performers the director needs to see for a second time. This second audition is a "call back". At this audition performers "cold read" along side other performers. "Cold readings" are selections from the production that the performer has not prepared ahead of time.

If I do not act, may I still be involved?
Yes! There is a tech crew that handles all the set construction, lighting, sound, props, etc. and a costume crew, videographer, dramaturge, stage manager, assistant director, and house manager.

What are the Charlie's?
The Charlie's are the annual Thespian Troupe 2533 induction ceremony and celebration of the year's work. All new Thespians are inducted at the Charlie's and special awards for performances and honor Thespians are presented as well. The Charlie's always have a theme too!

What is Thespian State Conference?
Thespian State Conference brings together Thespian Troupes from all over Missouri state to enjoy workshops, performances, films, and Thespian State Board elections. This annual conference provides a wonderful opportunity to meet other High School Thespians and to grow within Troupe 2533.

When is Thespian Conference?
January 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2012 at the Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.
